Omah's About photo, carrying a laptop and looking up

Hi there đź‘‹

I'm Atasie Esther Omah, a  Product Design professional with a strong track record of crafting killer UX strategies that optimize conversion rates and lead products to success. My degree in computer science and four years of startup experience, helped me develop a "roll up your sleeves" mentality, which makes me thrive in fast-paced, collaborative, and highly ambiguous environments.I'ved had to frequently wear more than one hat to adapt to various roles and responsibilities.

I constantly seek unconventional and non-obvious ways to solve product problems in order to differentiate products from competitors, and always in search of new ways to develop my abilities to go beyond design by learning new technologies.

In my spare time, I'm curating and developing Uiland.design, a platform dedicated to showcasing interfaces of digital products and from Africa and beyond as another way of contributing to the design community and promoting creativity. And Oh! I'm building this with my Top-tier software engineer friends "Chidera and Goodluck"(Uiland: A Mobbin alternative but with products from Africa)

My life has been a search for projects, ideas, acquaintances, things, events, places. I do some reading and writing as well, albeit not as consistently, but I’m really working on being better at that.

Giving back is close to my heart, I've mentored aspiring designers and helped my friends find their feet in design. Recently, I've started sharing valuable resources for the community on platforms like Figma and Bloccasset

Waking up everyday knowing I'm making a difference keeps me on my toes!

Work experience

With a graphic design background, I have four years of Product Design experience with startups. I have at least five products I've designed currently in the market. And I work with Reown Africa to develop innovative saas solutions in the Automobile industry. Would be happy to provide additional information regarding my previous work experiences over a chat.

In about 4 years of my career...

I've worked with a few brands full time, contract, volunteer, mentorship, freelance, etc to build, mentor and make as much Impact and I'm consistently seeking new ways to do more.

You might want to know a little about my life and career trajectory ...

2018

Discovery

As a 2nd year student, I was very lost and had no idea what I wanted.  I casually heard about graphic design  and picked  interest. Learnt the basics of tools like  photoshop and illustrator and practiced by creating logos, flyers, packaging designs and its likes for people , businesses and events around me. Also got introduced to figma at Tech hub Africa.

2019

School and learning

Still combining with school, I wanted to advance in my skillset, and with help from tech communties, I understood UI design basics and started practicing creating websites and apps. Worked with tech communities  to share the little I'd learned so far . My professional experience started here when I had my first ever paid gig and design internship

2020

Opportunities

Due to the pandemic, I had to pause from school for over a year. Worked harder, Had more clients, Internships, full time opportunities and real world projects. Here, I learnt a lot about working remotely with teams, clients, stakeholders etc. I also involved myself and led/Co-led some communties like ingressive, FOF, DSC, WTM etc to help other people get into tech

2021

Advanced learning

DESIGN

More projects, mostly freelance and contract opportunities. I solidified my work experience , communication and other soft skills while learning new technologies and other resources to aid my design process.

2022

More

Continued with a full time job and did  projects on the side. Started learning webflow around November  and so far I’ve built basic websites.  I came to understand, being technically skilled is not enough, I learned how to work effectively with different kinds of people.

2023

And still going

I love what I do so much. I intend to further solidify my experience with webflow while designing awesome solutions on figma. Hoping to make more impact and further improve the quality of my work. I would also love to venture into creating motion and interactions on Aftereffects.

Outside my creative passion, I love to do and talk about other things like:
