The Challenge

The lack of a central platform for verified information about Peter Obi's campaign, volunteer cells, and INEC's voters registration activity has resulted in difficulties for average young Nigerians who are interested in participating in the Nigerian electoral process. As a result, individuals have limited access to accurate information, are unsure of how to effectively volunteer for the campaign, and are exposed to misinformation concerning the campaign & election.
This has led to frustration and confusion, causing individuals to struggle with effectively volunteering for the campaign or following its progress.

The goal

The goal of this project was to create a user-friendly digital platform that provides accurate and verified information about Peter Obi's campaign activities and events, news updates, volunteer opportunities, as well as INEC's voters registration activity and policies.

The big question

How might we create a user-friendly platform that makes it easy for young Nigerians to access information and effectively participate in the electoral process.

Process

Firstly, we curated and organized the information and content that would be showcased on the site. Next, we created a moodboard to gather inspiration and establish a visual direction for the website. Using this, we developed style guidelines and specific components to be featured on the site. Finally, we used Figma to prototype the website, making it interactive and ready for further development.

Solution

The proposed website solution provides live updates on election & INEC, information on the campaign's activities, volunteer opportunities, video directory and all round information on the party and presidential candidates.

News and updates

This serves the purpose of keeping supporters and the public informed on the latest developments in the campaign and candidate. It includes news articles, press releases, and updates on campaign events, such as rallies, speeches, and debates.

Volunteer cells

This serves the purpose of facilitating the recruitment of volunteers and building a community of supporters. It allows visitors to find volunteer opportunities in their area and register as a volunteer for the campaign.

Video Directory

This video collection is curated to showcase the presidential candidate's message and platform, humanize their persona, and enhance their online visibility, featuring a diverse range of content such as campaign ads, interviews, and speeches. With this, visitors can engage with the candidate's stance on various issues in a dynamic and immersive way.

Interactive prototype

The last step in the process was creating an interactive and functional model that allowed others to interact with the interface, test out features, and identify any areas that needed improvement before handing off to the development team

Conclusion

Although the project did not ultimately launch, the insights and learnings gained from this project will be invaluable for future design projects. By learning from our challenges and successes on this project, we have been able to refine our approach to UI design, resulting in more effective and user-friendly digital products
